I have never in my life experienced such indignity and degradation from anyone as I have from Ms. Tanya. I have never heard such an excessive amount of hateful language and humiliation directed at others by a single person. Her passive aggressiveness has reached a level where she yells with extreme hostility over minor inconveniences that could easily be resolved civilly. This behaviour makes students fear her presence and experience severe distress and anxiety. It has become so frequent that we trigger our defense mechanisms whenever we pass by her, simply because of how much fear she has instilled in us. This isn’t just about regulating emotions. It appears to come from deeper psychological issues. I have known people with bipolar disorder who are far more emotionally stable and who actively pursue treatment to manage their condition. The school shouldn’t employ someone who clearly struggles to function appropriately in a social working environment. It is evident that she has not undergone a proper psychological evaluation before being placed in a position involving close interaction with students and staff. Furthermore, Ms. Tanya often exceeds her professional boundaries as an Academic Coordinator by constantly interfering with teachers’ professional autonomy. The presence of the word “academic” in her title does not grant her the right to misuse her authority or impose her own methods on qualified teachers. Teachers should have the freedom to assess their students’ progress at a pace that best supports effective learning. Yet, she insists on controlling their work as if she were an expert in every curriculum. Every teacher I have spoken to has described the pressure and discomfort caused by her management style. If even the staff feel anxious under her leadership, the issue has definitely become critical. A recent example is the cancellation of our fashion show due to Ms. Tanya’s constant and unrealistic demands, which made it impossible to organize the event effectively or enjoyably. One individual, who is not even our principal (even he would have likely allowed the teachers to manage the event) has caused substantial harm to both staff and students, despite not holding the highest position of authority. Enough damage has been done. She is unable to act professionally or respectfully. The school should finally let her go.

Mr. Bakyt was a predator and a harasser. He should’ve faced real consequences for his actions. He repeatedly sexually harassed me and my friend, making school feel like hell. I still can’t understand how he was allowed to leave as if nothing happened — there should’ve been legal action. It’s been over a year, but what he did continues to affect me deeply. I still struggle to sleep at night, and at the time, I couldn’t tell anyone because of his threats. He yelled at me every single day for the smallest things — even for things he wasn’t responsible for. He made it clear he hated me, and he never tried to hide it.

The school fails to meet Cambridge standards. Administration is strict about everything, and they never value students opinions. In this place, kids get vulnerable to bullying and constant criticism from teachers, let alone peers. Mr. Qasem is worst of them all, he always acts like a boss, and smells terrible, (maybe it’s his stinky vape). Children in this school behave badly, they set example to others and promote things like smoking, bullying, and some even threat their friends to get money out of their pockets, one of my acquaintances has been a victim, sadly. Ms Tanya is probably the most qualified of them all, she is highly educated expert with many years experience .

This school does not acknowledge your hard work or the time you put in. There is no point in constantly pushing yourself to maintain a perfect average or aim for top marks in every subject, because the school gives nothing back. Most universities are completely fine with you having eighty and above. But if you aim for “perfection,” thinking it will earn you some kind of recognition or support, you are wasting your time. I spent years completing every single assignment, trying to stay on good terms with teachers who did not know how to teach in the first place. All of that effort led to nothing but burnout and a huge toll on my mental health. I stayed up countless nights trying to give my best, and in the end, I ended up just like everyone else - in the audience. Meanwhile, students who cheat their way through the system and manage to get the grades on their report cards that do not truly reflect their efforts or potential - they are the ones who get the applause. After all those hours spent on pointless projects and being constantly disrespected by teachers, I can say with full honesty that none of it was worth it. Having the highest marks in class and a strong average did not benefit me at all. I could have easily managed an eighty average and focused on preparing for my external exams instead, which I now most likely need to retake because the teachers failed to teach the actual material but had no issue pushing us to the edge. If I could go back, I would do it all differently. I gave this place everything I had and received absolutely nothing in return. My confidence is at its lowest point, and the amount of patience I had for this school was wasted on people who did not care. Even asking for a decent teacher feels like too much here. They will practically give you a middle finger if you raise any concerns. If a school cannot offer proper education, it should not be draining students like this. If it does take away so much energy, it should make it worth it. But it shouldn’t do both. It provides no real learning and no recognition, yet it takes your time, your effort, and every fiber of your sanity until burnout becomes your personality.

People in this school are very racist and nobody ever does anything about it. Sometimes students shout the n word at others even when teachers are watching, and the teachers just ignore it and continue with their lesson like nothing happened, though the lessons are not exactly productive or worthwhile either. I used to be bullied a lot before. My classmates made racist comments at me because they said I looked “too Chinese”. I reported it many times, but no proper action was taken, and they just kept doing the same thing again. One time I had PE class, so of course I was wearing my gym clothes during that class time instead of the school uniform. When I was walking in the hallway, the academic coordinator suddenly started yelling at me. She did not let me explain anything, and every time I tried to speak, she just cut me off. I felt really offended because she also said some humiliating things to me. She also made up other insults unrelated to the uniform to completely “make her point”. After that, I went to the backyard behind the metal barrier where teachers usually go for their break. I just needed a quiet moment because I had already been yelled at TOO MANY times that day. Only five minutes. But then the same coordinator came there and started yelling at me for being there. I get that it was not the best area, but she could have been a little more understanding. Why can’t they understand how difficult it is sometimes? I just wanted to be alone for a few minutes. I’m sorry to ruin your smoking break but it was not worth taking my last nerve and making me completely break down. My business teacher also made some comments this year that were very unprofessional. He judged some students based on their weight, and sometimes said unnecessary things about how people look. I think someone in his position should know how to treat people equally. I also did not want to take part in the food fair but was forced to. I already said it would not work and we would lose money, but nobody listened. In the end, we lost money anyway. How shocking. The school should not force students to spend their own money and then even threaten to lower grades if they refuse. Do they think we're unbreakable just because we stay quiet? Teachers take advantage of our patience and use their position to push us until we finally snap. But we cant snap in front of them too, we have to keep everything inside until we’re alone.

I’ve been studying at this school since the 3rd grade, and this summer I’m finishing school. It’s been a long journey, and I want to say thank you. First of all, I want to thank all my teachers — for their hard work, kindness, and for everything they taught me. I’m really happy that I studied here. This school gave me great friends and classmates. I met people who I enjoy spending time with. I also had teachers who were always ready to help me when I had problems or questions. Of course, not everything was perfect. For example, I didn’t really like that we are forced to wear a uniform and so much attention is put there . And this year, there was a problem with our economics teacher — we even tried to change him but we couldn’t. But besides that, I’m thankful to the school and the staff for all the years I spent here. I want to give a special thank you to the teachers who are still here and who taught me this year: Mr. Aitkul, Mr. Cabrera, Mr. Bakhtiyar, Mr. Dovid, Mr. Sam, Mr. Henry, Mr. Amir, Mr. Altynbek, Ms. Iraima, Ms. Cholpon, Ms. Aliya, Ms. Natalia, Ms. Atyr, and Ms. Roza. And of course, thank you to the teachers who taught me in the past. You all helped me become who I am today. Thank you for everything!

I need to address a serious issue at this school: the way the uniform policy is being enforced. Yes, I understand the importance of rules. But there has to be a clear line between discipline and abuse - and here, that line has been completely crossed. The principal claims that more students are following the uniform policy this year because of some “redesign” and “student council communication.” That’s not true. We started following it because we were bullied into submission. Last year, the former IGCSE coordinator repeatedly made disturbing comments about my appearance. He once told me not to wear a skirt that “short” because “all the guys will be staring at your thighs,” then threatened to send me home. That wasn’t just unprofessional - it was harassment. But clearly, this school cares more about skirt lengths than student safety. When temperatures dropped below zero and the classrooms were freezing with no heaters, we still weren’t allowed to wear our own coats. Teachers snatched them off us like it was a crime to stay warm. One time, when I kept mine on, the old coordinator screamed at me so loudly that even my teacher was visibly shaken. He shouted, “Then go buy school jackets!” But unless the school actually provides warm, practical winter gear, that demand is meaningless. This isn’t about unity - it’s control. Emotional manipulation. We’re told things like “I’m disappointed in you” or “You’re not the kind of student I thought you were,” just because we wear something different. That’s not guidance - that’s guilt-tripping. Before 2022, the uniform policy still existed, but it wasn’t weaponized. Teachers didn’t emotionally torment us over it. And guess what? The school ran just fine. The new principal keeps hiding behind vague mentions of “government policy” while enforcing the strictest rules in the country. No other school does it as excessively. And yet, while they obsess over our jackets, they ignore serious issues - like teachers being inappropriate, or students grooming others. I was sexually assaulted by a classmate. The school never even told his parents. But if I wear the wrong sweater, I get shouted at in front of everyone. Where are the priorities? This does not improve the school’s image. Fear is not the same as respect. We’re wearing uniforms not because we were encouraged to, but because we were emotionally beaten down until we gave in.

Almost every day, I saw Mr. Charels and Ms. Tanya smoking outside the window during my lessons. I used to have a smoking addiction in the past, but I managed to stop and stayed away from it for a very long time. But watching them like that made it harder for me to control my temptation. In the end, I gave in, started smoking again, and now I have a big breathing difficulties because of it. Instead of only making posters or assemblies and trying to stop us with pictures and speeches, maybe think about being a better example yourselves? не школа, а полный бардак.

Why are we paying over ten thousand dollars a year to attend a school where students are constantly shut down by the very people who are supposed to support them? Where teachers humiliate students in front of their classmates every single day? Where emotional well-being is completely ignored, and no one seems to care what students go through? We’re told these external exams are everything, yet the teachers who are supposed to prepare us waste our time and energy without actually teaching us anything. They go off-topic, play favorites, and constantly verbally attack students for no valid reason. I felt unsafe in my own classroom. I’ve seen it happen over and over again. I’ve lived through it. I’ve been insulted by teachers who didn’t even try to hide their disrespect. I’ve been called stupid. I’ve been yelled at at full volume and called a “disappointment.” I’ve had teachers talk about me behind my back to other students and to their own colleagues. And I’m not the only one. So many students have experienced the same kind of treatment. The worst part? The principal was fully aware of what was happening. We went to him. We explained everything. We wrote letters. There were students who literally witnessed what happened and could vouch for it. But he didn’t investigate. He didn’t even try. When I personally spoke to him about one of the many times a teacher crossed the line, all he said was that he’d “take a look at it,” and then shut me out. That was it. Nothing changed. We spent the rest of the year silently putting up with the same harassment and disrespect in our own classrooms. I wouldn’t spend another second in this school even if it were free. Because it doesn’t just take your money. It drains your confidence. It chips away at your self-worth. It makes you feel small. After six years, I’m leaving feeling unheard, dismissed, and exhausted. Parents, please don’t send your kids here. Protect them from the damage this school causes. This place is not right for anyone.

Attending this school will always be one of my biggest regrets. I came here to receive education that I thought no other school could provide, but was instead given teachers who couldn’t teach simple concepts and would humiliate you to the extent that you'd break down in the middle of the class. YouTube and ChatGPT became my only friends when it came to preparing for my external exams. “Why not report it to the school?” you might ask. It’s completely useless. My mom came twice to speak to the administration about the inefficiency and unprofessionalism of my teachers but ended up wasting a trip because they were NOT going to listen. The only person who genuinely listened to me and supported me through this difficult period was my therapist (whom I had to start seeing as a result of being here), but even then it’s simply wrong and immoral to make the students deal with those issues instead of actually solving them. All of this could have been prevented if the principal simply cared. Enough to understand the pain we’ve been through, the humiliation we’ve been dealing with for so long, and the time we wasted here. Being here, I’ve become the worst version of myself. And sometimes, I wonder what my life would be like right now if I had just stayed in my old school instead of “striving for the best quality education,” which this school has certainly not provided. I wonder how many pools of tears would have been saved. But most importantly, I wonder what I did to deserve this, and this is something that I will keep contemplating for so many years from now on, just not while attending this place. Like someone here said, I wish I could say that there is still hope for this school, but there simply isn’t. All I can hope for is that the remaining students will have more resilience and mental strength that this school took away from me, to handle whatever new traumatic things this place throws at them. But one thing I’m glad about: it will not be me.

After five years in this school, I’m finally leaving this place—every painful memory, every disappointment, every time I felt like I wasn’t seen, heard, or cared for. I wouldn’t wish what I went through here on anyone—not even someone I disliked. And I genuinely hope no student ever has to experience what I did. Up until Grade 8, things were okay. But these last two years at UWIS have been a complete downfall. Somewhere along the way, this school lost its purpose. It stopped being about education, growth, or student welfare. Now it’s all about appearances—looking good on the outside while crumbling from the inside. Teachers regularly cross boundaries with students—yelling, humiliating, and threatening them instead of supporting or inspiring them. There’s little professionalism, and even less empathy. I've been harassed by my teachers for two straight years. You’d expect a principal to step in when things fall apart, but instead, they fixate on uniforms and surface-level rules while ignoring what truly matters—our mental health, our academics, and our safety. It got so bad for me that I almost took my own life. I hate that a place meant to help me grow made me feel like I was nothing. I started believing I wasn’t enough. I lost confidence. I lost motivation. I almost lost myself completely. But imagining the day I'd be able to leave once and for all and never look back is what kept me going. And I know I’m not the only one. I've seen so many students break down quietly, trying to survive in silence while no one listened. UWIS could’ve been so much more. But instead, it became a place that drains you. The kind of place you count the days to leave. To the parents reading this: protect your children. Ask the hard questions. Look past the fancy posters and Instagram posts. Because behind all that, there are real students suffering in silence. We deserved better. And the students still here do, too.

Spent over $30,000 at this school, failed for two years, and not once did anyone care. There’s no system to support struggling students. Even when you try to improve, the school offers no help—just zero flexibility or understanding. But they always have excuses for their own mistakes. The school has no structure. Policies change constantly, and students are expected to adjust without question. Earlier this year, they replaced our qualified economics teacher with someone unqualified. The administration praised him as “excellent,” despite our entire class filing complaints. He was gone three weeks before external exams. The original teacher returned to grade our mocks, but since the previous one had taught us the wrong content, grades were a disaster. The class average? 17%. No one passed. Economics is core for us—this directly affects our futures. The replacement teacher smoked after every class, on school grounds, taught the wrong curriculum, and badmouthed students. This is who UWIS called “qualified.” We had to self-study for external exams we were pressured into taking early. At one point, they even threatened to withhold our Cambridge diplomas if we didn’t. Then they quietly dropped it, afraid of parent backlash. Retakes were rarely allowed. It felt like they wanted us to fail. Outside the classroom, it’s worse. Bullying—including physical violence—is ignored. I was bullied, and all I got was a conversation. One student threatened another’s life, was registered by the police, and was let back months later. How is that safe? This school doesn’t prioritize education or student safety. They protect their image, not their students. Staff are never held accountable. When we speak up, we’re dismissed. If you’re a parent, take this seriously. This school is a complete waste of money and puts your child’s mental health and future at risk.

This school year has been the worst academic experience of my life. In October, the administration removed our qualified and experienced Economics teacher and replaced her with someone who had a serious conflict with his previous class. Instead of doing something about the teacher, who was clearly causing damage, we were now forced to endure that person’s hostile and unprofessional behavior on a daily basis. The principal claimed it was for our own benefit. My classmates and I raised our concerns immediately. Some even brought their parents to speak directly with the principal. His response was that even if every student and parent complained, he would not reverse his decision. He told us to either accept it or “spend the rest of the year being sad.” This was an understatement. This year hasn’t just been “sad”- it’s been mentally exhausting, academically damaging, and completely demoralising. What made it worse was hearing the principal say his only regret was not making the switch earlier, because this teacher was so “qualified” and “excellent”. If that’s true, why did his entire class fail their AS-level economics exams last year? We spent the whole year being taught by someone who didn’t follow the syllabus, regularly showed personal bias against students, and behaved inappropriately in both his tone and conduct. No matter how valid our concerns were, the administration had no intention of listening. We were always met with the same neglectful attitude. And all of this for what? Just so that teacher could quit at the end of the year as if none of it mattered. I almost admire the principal’s ability to ignore everything falling apart around him without even flinching. Right now, we are cramming for our external exams, clinging to whatever little hope we have left that we might scrape a B or maybe a C. That teacher ensured that getting an A is out of reach; not because we didn’t work hard, but because we were never properly taught. This was a year of my life that I will never get back. A year defined by stress, disrespect, and relentless humiliation. This school failed to educate us, yet somehow succeeded in draining our motivation and energy. I wish I could say I have hope that the administration will reflect and take responsibility, but the truth is, I have none. Nothing could possibly make things worse here than they already are.

I'm sure it says a lot when students and parents feel so unheard and neglected that they have to turn to external apps like 2GIS just to voice their concerns, not out of convenience, but out of desperation. The administration’s constant refusal to address real issues, especially regarding the teaching staff, has left us with no other choice. Talking to them is like talking to a brick wall, except the wall might actually listen better. The leadership here is obsessed with academic results and maintaining a shiny reputation. What they don’t care about is how those results are achieved. They don’t care if students are forced to endure poor teaching, lack of understanding, and complete demotivation, as long as the grades look good on paper. If you dare voice a concern about a teacher, the curriculum, or your ability to learn properly, the answer is always the same: “Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do.”, which is just a polite way of telling you to shut up and deal with it. I honestly wonder if the principal even has a shred of empathy left. His constant smiling and “friendly” attitude feels less like genuine care and more like a performance to cover up his complete indifference. Because if he truly cared, he would have taken action a long time ago. No matter how unprofessional or damaging certain teachers might be, the responsibility ultimately falls on him. He has the power to intervene, protect students, and build a better environment. Yet he chooses not to. Instead, he focuses on the policies that matter more to him than our well-being. Meanwhile, the quality of education, the actual priority, is being destroyed by inadequate teachers who make it impossible for us to learn properly. And all the principal does is gaslight us into believing these changes are “for our own good.” If they really were, we wouldn’t have to self study for our externals because the teachers failed to teach us the curriculum. It's ironic how they claim that the system is "improving," when in reality everything has gone downhill ever since the new principal took over two years ago. Sure, adding new subjects and hiring more foreign teachers might look impressive at first glance, but all they’re doing is chasing quantity over quality. If you're going to force students to take externals, the least you could do is provide competent teachers; though at this point, it’s too much to expect.

The school system is worsening every single year and all of the higher ups believe that it’s improving when it’s really not. Ms. Tanya, the academic coordinator, should not even be allowed to be teaching. She is a bully inside of the classroom, has terrible mood swings, and often time lashes out at her students for no good reason. It’s not about being a strict teacher, I’ve had several strict teachers in my life - but she is the prime example of a teacher who is a bully. Teachers should be able to separate their personal feelings from their jobs but she has a big issue with being able to do that. Not only does she get offended, her personal feelings get hurt to the point where she ends up lashing out at students over small comments. As the adult and a professional teacher, I believe Ms. Tanya shouldn’t be arguing or yelling at students who are over 10 years younger than her. Often times, she would enter the classroom in a bad mood and yell at students for the smallest things. One example from my own experience is when she yelled at me to take the jacket that I had around my arms (not wearing it) off of them because she couldn’t see my “uniform”, when I told her that I am just having it around my arms and not wearing it - she proceeded to yell at me and tell me she is not going to start the lesson until I take it off. This type of behavior and attitude shouldn’t be just brushed off as a teacher “following” protocols, it was an extremely unnecessary measure that disrupted the lesson as well as humiliated me. I’m sure that many other students have had similar experiences as me and I’m still not sure why the director or other coordinators defend her. She is not fit to be an academic coordinator and I am glad that I am leaving this school before even more unfit people become the next coordinator. Do NOT send your kids to this school, please consider other options!!!!

This school has become a prime example of neglect and invalidation. The situation worsens each year. The AS/A Level Coordinator, who also teaches Economics, consistently displays unprofessional, dismissive, and inappropriate behavior toward students and even colleagues. The problems started with his conflict with Grade 12 students, which should have already raised a serious cause for concern. Instead of addressing the issue, the administration inexplicably reassigned him to Grade 11, where the situation deteriorated further. My son’s class has suffered under his ineffective teaching. When students asked for clarification about the miseducated syllabus, they were met with arrogance and hostility. His response? That he would teach however he wanted. It’s no surprise the other students were unhappy, even submitting a petition to the principal, which was completely ignored. As parents paying overpriced tuition fees, we are left questioning the value of this education. Instead of reinstating the competent and well-liked former teacher, the principal continues to defend this current one, showing loyalty to staff over students. My son, who initially intended to sit for his AS Level Economics exam, has decided against it due to a lack of preparation and support from his teacher. Why waste money on exams when the school has failed to provide the education needed to succeed? Adding to the dismay, the principal consistently defends this teacher, dismissing valid concerns from students and parents. When this cohort inevitably produces poor exam results, let me be clear: this will not be the fault of the students. To make matters worse, recent events highlight a broader culture of unprofessionalism. My son witnessed a teacher yelling at a colleague in the hallway in front of students after they missed an assembly. While there’s no excuse for missing important events, what’s even more concerning is a teacher yelling at another teacher in the middle of the hallway, in front of all the students. Such inappropriate behavior is unacceptable, and there’s no justification for it. It’s no wonder students are losing faith in this school, and I expect many families, like ours, will consider leaving next year. With this level of "education," I deeply regret not enrolling my son at another institution sooner.
